Descriptions:

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, the communities of Guamá have started to get back on their feet. Recovery efforts are underway, but slow because the area is remote and badly damaged.

Hurricane Melissa hit Cuba during a deep economic crisis, exacerbated by U.S. sanctions. Many homes were totally destroyed, leaving families without shelter. The solidarity between the people of Guamá is strong, and community members are supporting each other in the aftermath of the disaster.

This is a story about how Cubans in Guamá are rebuilding, together. Reported on the ground by Liz Oliva Fernández for Belly of the Beast, in collaboration with @BreakThroughNews
